background

An amateur painter Anamarija Samec was born in 1977.

She spent her early childhood in the mouintain region of Tolmin and before her primary school she moved with parents to upper valley Gornja Branica in Karst. Her interest in the drawing was indicated already in primary school, but it was not noticable. After graduating, at a medical school in Nova Gorica, she continued her studies in Ljubljana at the Faculty of Social Sciences, and also graduated in sociology. The new society, new atmosphere, the urban environment, was crowded with the stimuli which offered her possibilities of perception and exploration of herself and her features. During this period, she mostly explored the relationship between paper, pencil and charcoal. Her study was interrupted due to the family circumstances and she subsequently left the city of Ljubljana. After few years of searching herself and explorating the secrets and all positive and negative benefits of life she has moved to Carst again, where she can find more oportunities for her drawing and creating at the moment.

Her features and above all a personal color palette is marked by her work with people with special needs, because she worked few years abroad as a personal companion of the disabled persons. Her motives are also marked by several years of professional work with an older population, which encountered her to understand the life and the sensory content of life which were influenced and pervaded with the pain and traumas, but on the other hand she wanted, with big interest and empathy, to try to understand the significancy, messages and rationally to interpretate all that and to input it in this world. Due to conflicting rationality of a modern man, by his curiosity and desire to learn, processing living facilities, events, relationships and the desire to understand, especially the social integration of marginalized and stigmatized content of life, it lead her to an in-depth post-graduate studies at the University of Ljubljana.

Anamarija has recently revealed her paintings. Her artistic journey is marked by a significant academic artist Klemen Brun, under which mentoring she has been educated for several years. Among other she is a member of DSAT Tolmin, whose mentor is a professional academic artist Jana Dolenc and Cultural Tourism Association Renče, also under the supervision of Academic artist J. Dolenc. She has recently been developing and completing her knowledge of drawing and painting under mentoring of Academic painters Aleksander Peca, Janez Milkovič-Jano, academic artist Vasja Drajne, and many other amateur painters, such as Vinko Tica, Stanka Golob, Gregor Maver, Alessando Velussi, Anja Rakovec and photographer Andrej Perko.
